Most questions are answered below — give it a quick scan before writing in. If you're stuck on a specific receipt, the fastest route is the in-app Report a problem button, which attaches the scan and diagnostics automatically so we can actually fix it.
Nine times out of ten this is a photo-quality issue. Retake with these tips:
Anything still off? Every line is editable in the app: tap Review & Correct Items in the scanner toolbar, or tap the pencil on the header to fix totals, tax, tip, vendor, or date.
Open the scanner's Help & tips (lightbulb icon) for the long-receipt technique — on most phones a scrolling screenshot of the receipt, or capturing the itemized section and entering the totals, works great.
Tabfare automatically escalates hard receipts (handwritten tips, faded thermal paper, logo-only vendors) to AI-assisted reading. If a value still can't be read, the app asks you to confirm it manually — nothing is guessed silently.
Tap the pencil icon on the bill header before saving — vendor, date, currency, and every amount can be corrected in seconds. Your correction is what gets saved and reported on.
Add people with the + button, then tap an item and tap a person's chip to assign it. Tapping repeatedly cycles shares, or use the pie icon for an even split of the whole bill. Custom weighted splits (e.g. ⅓ vs ½) are in the roster editor's Custom split switch.
Yes — if you own the bill. Open it and choose Add people from the menu; the scanned receipt reopens with your items intact so you can assign the newcomers. No re-scan needed.
By design, only the bill's owner can change amounts, people, and details — that's what keeps a shared bill trustworthy. As a participant you can view everything, mark your own share paid (with a proof screenshot), and comment on the bill. Every change is written to a tamper-proof audit log.
Red = unpaid or due. Yellow = someone marked their share paid and it's waiting for the owner to confirm. Green = confirmed paid. You'll see the same colors on the calendar, bill pages, and reminders.
That's expected — the bill's owner confirms payments, and the dot turns green once they do. Nudge them with a comment on the bill if they're slow!
Subscriptions are handled by Apple/Google. In the app, go to your profile and tap Restore purchases — that re-checks your store receipt. If it still doesn't unlock, contact us below with the email on your account.
Through your store, not the app: iPhone — Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Android — Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
In the app: Help & support → Replay tutorials, or Profile → tutorial settings. The quick-start tours will play again on each page.
In the app via Profile, or use the account deletion form. There's a grace period during which you can restore your account.
We love those — send it through the form below with the Feature request topic (or in-app with the Feature request category). Requests are triaged separately from bugs, so picking the right topic genuinely gets your idea seen faster.
Send us a message and we'll reply by email. For scan problems, please use the in-app report instead if you can — it attaches the receipt and logs we need.
